The Public Art Fund
The Community Foundation of the Lowcountry believes that not only do the arts provide a much needed social escape for many in our communities—they also help drive local economies and enrich educational landscapes. All of these reasons helped to solidify the decision to embark on the very ambitious goal of hosting the inaugural Public Art Exhibition on Hilton Head Island in 2011 and again in 2013.
At this biennial event, community members and visitors enjoy the exhibition of 20 large scale outdoor sculptures, juried in from a large national field, and placed around the Coastal Discovery Museum at Honey Horn. This free to the public exhibition is open to the during the museum’s hours of operation from October through December, 2015.
The ultimate goal of each Exhibition if for the jury to select one piece for purchase and permanent placement on Hilton Head Island, growing its public art collection.
Visit the Community Foundation's Public Art website for more information on the work of the Fund and the 2015 Exhibition.
