Community Foundation of the Lowcountry Names New Board Members
August 04, 2021Dafina Ward – Ward is an attorney who currently serves as the executive director of the Southern AIDS Coalition, based in Birmingham, Alabama. Additionally, she is an adjunct professor of nonprofit management and funding at USCB. She has extensive nonprofit management, program and fundraising experience. She has consulted with national nonprofits on program design and implementation. Ward serves on the Community Foundation’s Grants Advisory/Community Investment Committee.
Doug Wetmore – Prior to his retirement, Wetmore served as executive vice president and chief financial officer for Griffon Corporation, a multinational conglomerate based in New York City. His areas of expertise include financial accounting and reporting, SEC regulations, investor relations and other financial and accounting activities. Wetmore is a member of the Finance & Investment Committee of the Community Foundation.
Since 1994, Community Foundation of the Lowcountry has been connecting people, resources and needs by helping build stronger communities, assisting donors in making a difference through charitable giving and building endowments to address needs, both today and into the future. With over 400 charitable funds, combined assets totaling $86 million, and grantmaking and scholarships reaching $88 million, Community Foundation of the Lowcountry is the largest source of unrestricted philanthropic resources dedicated to Beaufort, Colleton, Hampton and Jasper Counties.
