We make establishing a fund with Community Foundation of the Lowcountry simple, by getting to know your charitable goals and finding the right solutions to make them happen.

Simplify your giving. Amplify your impact.

Here's how it works.

1. Define your charitable passions.

Think about the charitable causes that mean the most to you, your family or even your business. Our staff is here to help you determine the fund options to meet your charitable goals and design a personalized giving plan.

2. Review our fund types.

Check out the types of funds we offer. It only takes an initial gift of $2,500 to open a fund ($5,000 for a scholarship fund). When you create a fund with the Community Foundation it carries a unique name – often for you, your family, your business or your community or to memorialize a loved one. Distributions are issued in the name of the fund, unless you desire anonymity.

3. Review our types of gifts.

Decide how – and when – would be the best time for you to make your gift. We accept a wide range of gifts, including cash, IRA distributions, stock, real estate and other assets. Or you can give a deferred gift using a planned giving vehicle such as a trust or insurance policy. Feel free to consult your professional advisor for information about tax advantages of each.

4. Contact us at 843.681.9100 to start a conversation.

After talking with you about your charitable goals and finding the best giving vehicle, we will prepare a customized fund agreement document at no charge. This document outlines the fund’s charitable goals and spells out our policies. Once you’ve signed the document and we’ve received your initial gift, the fund is established. It’s that easy!

We'd love to talk with you more about how easy it is to be a philanthropist.
