Community Foundation of the Lowcountry Adds Two Board Members
December 08, 2017Yvonne Curl and Sheila Mahony were recently elected to the Community Foundation of the Lowcountry board of directors.
Curl formerly served as vice president and chief marketing officer for Avaya, Inc. Prior to joining Avaya, Curl was employed by Xerox for 24 years.
Curl has extensive board experience. She has served on the board of directors for Nationwide since 1998. She also currently serves on the boards of HealthSouth Corporation and previously served on the boards of Welch Allyn, Inc., Charming Shoppes, Inc. and the Boys Choir of Harlem. Locally, in addition to Community Foundation of the Lowcountry, she serves on the board of Hilton Head Humane Association.
Curl received a bachelor of business administration degree in marketing from Howard University, where she was named an outstanding alumna by their School of Business.
Mahony, an attorney, worked as a consultant for Cablevision Systems Corporation (now Altice) of Bethpage, N.Y. from 2007 to 2016. Prior to that she was executive vice president of government, media and community relations for the company for 27 years. Previous work experience includes serving as executive director for both Carnegie Commission on the Future of Public Broadcasting and Cable Television Information Center of the Urban Institute, as well as assistant corporation counsel for the City of New York.
Mahony ’s past board experience includes Cablevision Systems Corporation, C-Span, Cable Television and Telecommunications Association of New York, Legal Aid Society of New York, Deep Well Project and Memory Matters. In addition to Community Foundation of the Lowcountry, Mahony currently serves on the boards of Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research and Sea Pines Country Club.
Mahony received her undergraduate degree from Newton College of the Sacred Heart in Newton, Mass. and her law degree from Fordham University School of Law in New York City.
